Electric Car

Yesterday's blog sparked quite a few emails asking about electric vehicles.

Electric cars the past and the future. One of the most famous and least understood was Nicola Tesla's 1931 Pierce-Arrow  pictured above. This car used no batteries, had an 80 horse electric motor for power and was able to achieve a top speed of 90 miles per hour. That is a good speed for today's roads but back in the 30s you share wouldn't find me driving that fast on any of the roads.

Today there is a modern day Tesla car manufactured by the Tesla Motor Company in California. The car costs a lot more than what I can afford, though to be honest all the new cars cost more than what I can afford.

California is one of the few states in the US that has implemented charging stations for electric vehicles throughout the state even though electric vehicles  are presently not that common there. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was the main reason for this implementation in the state of California.

Most off the people that are following this blog are experimenters like myself who want to try to  build their own power and even their own electric vehicles. the following is a link to where you can get all kinds of valuable information (at a reasonable price) on how to build your own  electric vehicle.    Electric Car Conversion

I may not be on line for the next few days as we are going to see some friends and have no idea if they have Internet access or not. So please keep checking back, I will return.
