Getting Greener

A quick note about my experiments, picked up a old television today, took it all apart and wouldn't you know it the part that I needed was burnt out. I now have to wait until Monday to get a coil to try.  Just read a post on twitter from Green Technology System http://www.green-technology-systems.ie/  hope you all like it.

Getting greener with energy efficiency

The need to go green is not something that will be of news to you and you will of course have heard these terms banded about. You will have been told by now how important it is that you recycle and act responsibly as a business to reduce waste and become more efficient. Although many businesses have wrangled with the idea of having to become more efficient and have seen it as a mountain to climb, others have jumped at the opportunity to try and find new ways to be less wasteful. The reason more and more businesses are jumping on the ‘green’ bandwagon is quite simply because there are substantial financial gains to be made.
Saving money through energy efficiencyIf there is one way to attract the attention of business big wigs it is to suggest that there may be a new way of saving money, and rightly so, because the threat of recession looms and it is essential that businesses do what they can to stay afloat. If reducing waste and becoming more efficient is going to save some money then understandably, business owners want to know more about it.
What energy efficiency is and how you can become more efficientEnergy efficiency is something that most people are turning their minds to because it is something that we all need yet overuse, and pay handsomely for. Being better at using energy isn’t just about turning light switches off when you leave a room, but about using the right kinds of bulbs. The now old-fashioned tungsten filament bulbs are being replaced by a wide range of products that do a much better job. Some lights come with sensors that will allow the lights to turn on when you need them and off when you don’t so you don’t even need to worry about educating your workforce about the importance of turning lights off. The bulbs that are used to provide the light when it is needed may be LEDs or strip lights. Halogen lighting is a valid option too and provides good quality lighting.
Saving costs over timeSome products are a little more expensive than your regular 30watt bulb but consider the savings in the long run. The energy you use to power energy efficient bulbs is far less than what you would use powering traditional light fittings. If you consider these savings over a year then you are well on your way to making a saving. If you work in a large office space then consider how many lights you are using and how much you are going to save each month.
Other options for becoming more efficient as a businessEnergy efficiency is one way to become more efficient and is a great start because you will immediately see the benefits next time you open your electricity bill. This should give you the motivation to look for other avenues where you might be able to make savings, and of course make your contribution to the environment at the same time. Reducing our dependence on power supplies and power stations will dramatically affect the environment, which is important for your customers if you want to be considered to be a responsible eco-friendly business.
