Electronic Parts and Test Equipment

Parts and specialized tools are problems that the home inventor encounters. Up in Canada we are limited by the number of suppliers that we can get electronic parts from. If we lived in a larger center such as Calgary, Edmonton, or even Lethbridge we would have access to stores that specialize in electronic components but if we do not live in those areas our only option is the internet.

I am from the old school when ever I make a large purchase I want to see and touch it first to justify in my own mind the outlay of my hard earned money. The question is always where does one start?

Today it is getting harder and harder to find a printed catalogue, most catalogues are online. In Canada Agilent Technologies  "ACTIVE" is a company based out of Quebec Canada, one of the few companies who still print a catalogue of the products that they have to offer. Their web page is http//www.active123.com

The above is a photo of my wish book catalogue, and believe me that some the test instruments that they have I can only wish that I could afford them.

I have found that in the past that a good parts catalogue is only the beginning of ones search for electronic parts and electronic test equipment.

Not every  company handles every part that has ever been manufactured. Sometimes the part you need is so specialized that you might even have to build the part yourself like in the case of Henry Moray. Moray discovered a stone while he was in Sweden, he used that stone in many experiments, and was able to design and build a machine that was able to capture the usable energy that surrounds us.

I am going to do a series on Moray in he future, he was a great inventor as well as a family man who had very high moral principals. Fearing for the safety of his family and himself he was forced to stop his experiments even though he had built and demonstrated working models of his invention. This story is tragic in that the people of the world lost out on this great man's invention through the greed of others. But more of his tragic story at a later date.

Today as in the past there are still those who would oppose any invention that would help mankind unless there was a way that they could profit from it. The world economic system that has evolved for over a century now is designed to provide profits for the few through the labour of the many.

All that I am saying is that all you inventors out there need to be careful who you tell about your great invention.

You can email me at alternative.energy.blog@gmail.com if you have  a suggestion for a post or even something that you would like our readers  to know about.

With that in mind I will close todays post.
